"Nomadism": How Technology is Changing Space Usage
Dear Diane and Carrie:
Thanks for the great presentation at LOEX. I was impressed by how you have transformed your frustration regarding a clearly inadequate teaching space into a positive, creative enterprise in instructional space design. I thought the group might find this article from a recent issue of The Economist of interest; though it's a little breezy in its assumption that "traditional" spaces are no longer needed (especially in light of your own experience with the wall-less classroom), it's interesting to see where some of the thinking about space planning has come from. Thanks again for the great session.

What an interesting article! Thanks for sharing that, Carol. I feel as though I've seen the future...
Hi Carol,
It is nice that the trend is really analyzing how a space is used and using it better and more efficiently. I think we touched on that in our discussion about flexible teaching space. We all seem to like that a space is flexible but in reality no one moves the furniture around because it is too much work to prep a classroom for each session. I am really hoping that librarians who have been able to implement good classroom space will post and share.
:-)
